Anniversary fundraising challenge raises thousands of pounds for LionHeart
A month-long fundraising challenge organised to mark LionHeart’s 125th anniversary year has raised thousands of pounds after being embraced by teams of surveyors up and down the country.
A total of 88 teams of three signed up for the month-long fun competition which took place throughout June, organised and led by our corporate partners, SDL Surveying.
They invited surveyors from small and large firms or individuals to band together to run, walk or cycle, or a combination, while raising money for LionHeart throughout June. It was hoped teams would cover 125 kilometres (or miles, depending on the mode of transport!) and each raise £125, with a target of £5,000.
In fact, the teams collectively covered an incredible 17,500 miles - or 28,157km - and raised over £15,000. With match funding from some participants’ firms and Gift Aid, the total generated is expected to exceed £20,000.
Sharing the video below, Adrian Drummond MRICS, one of the organisers from SDL Surveying, said: “It’s been great to see so many people get involved - surveyors, trainees, family members, support staff and dogs, from all across the UK, all joining forces to raise money for our fantastic charity. Thank you to everyone involved.”
LionHeart’s corporate partnerships and fundraising executive Lucy Wright said: “We were blown away by the enthusiasm shown for this challenge, right throughout the month of June which just happened to include some of the hottest and wettest weather of the year! We’re so grateful to everyone who took part and everyone who supported their efforts, but a particular thanks to our long-time supporters at SDL Surveying who went above and beyond in driving this forward.
“This year is a very special milestone year for LionHeart as we reflect on 125 years of supporting the surveying community. The simple fact is that we wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the donations of surveyors over the years, so it’s been amazing to see such a community effort come together to mark the occasion and raise funds to help us keep supporting their own.
“We had a fun end-of-month call in which we revealed the ‘winners’ of each category in terms of distance covered and money raised. But the real winner is LionHeart - and of course, the people we help - because these funds will help make a material difference. Thank you!”
